If you recently cut down a tree in your yard, you might now be trying to figure out what to do with the stump. You have a variety of options, from getting rid of it completely to leaving it where it is and using it for various purposes. Here are some different things to consider doing with the tree stump.

Remove the Tree Stump

The first and most obvious thing to do with a tree stump is to remove it. You have a few different options here, depending on what you prefer and what is available to you. You can rent a stump grinder and get rid of it that way, cut it down, or use chemicals to kill the stump and remove it. Cutting it down might be a good option if you don't mind the extra labour work and want to use it elsewhere, such as cutting small pieces out of the stump to be used as coasters or to use large chunks for firewood. Chemicals are good when you don't mind waiting a while for it to die before removing it. Stump grinders are effective, but do require an investment in renting or buying the equipment or hiring a company such as Waratah Tree Services.

Turn it Into a Garden Table or Chair

If you want to keep the stump where it is, you can use it either as a table or chair for the garden. This depends on the size of the stump, including its height and circumference. If it is a relatively small and short stump left behind, then using it as a little chair in your yard is probably best. You can plant some vegetables or flowers near where the stump is so you can sit on it and enjoy the garden. Another option is to turn a large stump into a garden table by cleaning it and adding some particle board or wood board on top of it. The stump becomes the base of the table, which can then be surrounded by a few chairs.

Make a Tree Stump Planter

Another option is to keep the stump where it is and turn it into a planter. This allows you to use it as part of the natural landscape, making it appear as if it was supposed to be there. You will need to cut a hole into the top of the stump and clean it out. You will then plant any type of plant or flower you like, first adding some soil, then adding your succulents, seeds, or plants. The plant will grow right in the stump and create a beautiful feature for your yard.
